Residents Fear Additional Water Woes from Proposed Nine Home Development on Garden Road

The Planning Board will again consider a controversial application to build nine homes and swimming pools at 80, 88 and 90 Garden Road at their meeting at 7 pm on Wednesday September 22, 2021. Residents who live downstream from the proposed project and experienced flooding during Tropical Storm Ida continue to object as they fear that more development will eliminate porous surfaces and have catastrophic effects on their properties.

Developers have been attempting to build on the site since 2013. The current site developers are now proposing to raise the site grade with four to four and half feet of fill and include a runoff detention pipe systems to prevent infiltration of groundwater into the systems. The proposed roadway surface would be a pourous pavement system. See the proposal and letters from residents here.
