Lea is Austrailian and began her professional life as a photographer's assistant in Milan. She has since had an exciting career as a photographer, commercial director and writer and has had ten solo shows of her work.

The house in Edgemont reflects her good taste and includes artwork from her many endeavors. It's light, spare and appealing. Admitting to a "wallpaper fetish" the walls of several of the rooms are papered with beautiful murals and the living room has a wall of metallic squares that mimic the stonework on the other walls of the house.

Eight more homes in Scarsdale will almost certainly be torn down. Their owners have applied to the Committee for Historic Preservation (CHP) for permission to demolish them and in recent months it seems that virtually every application is approved, or if denied, the owners appeal to the Scarsdale Board of Trustees who grant permission.

It is unclear why the CHP continues to deliberate as the current code gives them little authority to prevent demolitions.

Here's the list of applications to be considered by the CHP:

• 14 Reimer Rd. built in 1923
• 7 Meadow Rd. built in 1953
• 3 Edgewood Rd. built in 1926
• 61 Franklin Rd. built in 1962
• 35 Brookby Rd. built in 1941
• 85 Penn Rd. built in 1941

• 1 Burgess Rd. built in 1962

The committee will also hold a "Discussion on Historic Properties and Process"

If all are approved, the total count of demolitions for 2015, year to date, will be 43. In 2014, a total of 39 homes were approved for demolition and in 2013, 31 homes went down. This year marks the most demolitions in the last six years.

Moreover, plans to construct many new homes are being considered by the BAR this month.

Following the resignation of the chair of the Committee for Historic Preservation, Paul Diamond, and committee member Bana Choura, of the Village Board of Trustees has announced a vacancy on the Committee. William Silverman has been appointed to replace Diamond as the Chair and the Board is seeking to fill one seat on the committee.

The Committee for Historic Preservation determines if a structure located in the Village for which a permit for demolition has been requested is a structure of substantial historical importance.
