Drug Dealer Busted in Scarsdale Village

ToscanoBusted: Police arrested a 24 –year old employee of Scarsdale Hardware for dealing drugs on the afternoon of April 4. Police were doing surveillance on Overhill Road following reports that drug sales were taking place. They observed Richard Toscano of Lawton Street in Yonkers approach a car and make a transaction at 1:25 pm on 4/4. They arrested both Toscano and the buyer, Daniel Derosa, age 27 of Pleaseantville, after Toscano sold Derosa drugs.

Toscano was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, criminal sale of a controlled substance, and possession of marijuana. When police searched his car they found cash and additional drugs, believed to be Percocet, Adderall, Xanax and several other currently unidentified compounds that have been sent to the Westchester County Lab for analysis and identification. Toscano was arraigned before Judge Galloway and remanded to Westchester County Jail on $100,000 bail. His court date is April 9. Derosa was changed with criminal possession, given a court date of April 9 and released.

Drunk Driver: Gregory Alphin, Age 30 of Yonkers was arrested for drunk driving after he called police for help at 11 pm on April 2. Police found Alphin sitting in his car at the intersection of Harvest Drive and Mamaroneck Road. Both tires on the passenger side of the car were flat. When police spoke to Alphin they smelled alcohol and noticed his eyes were bloodshot. His speech was slurred, he was disoriented and confused and did not know how he got the two flat tires. Alphin admitted to drinking Scotch at a friend's house, was given sobriety tests and found to have a BAC of .24. His car was towed and Alphin was released to his girlfriend and given an April 9th court date.

Death: Peggy Poole passed away of natural causes at the age of 97 at her home on Barry Road in Scarsdale on the afternoon of April 2. Her son was with her at the time of her death.

Harassed: A Madison Road woman told police that she was threatened by a man who said he would "break her neck" if she continued to talk to her boyfriend and threatened to smash her windshield with a crowbar. She was threatened via phone calls and Facebook messages on April 7.

Disputes: A Bell Road man who shares a driveway with his neighbor called police on 4-2 to complain that his neighbor has been taking pictures of the registration and inspection stickers on his car. Police spoke to the photographer who complained that his neighbor was working on his car in the driveway. Police noted that the two share the driveway and told them each to stay on their own property when not in the driveway.

On 4-3 a Brooklyn man reported that he was threatened with physical violence by the employee of the Shell Station on Scarsdale after the two had a dispute over the way the man parked the car at the station. Police went to the station and settled the disagreement.

Key: A Mamaroneck Road man came to police on April 3 to ask them to help him get his house key back from a dog walker. He was no longer working with the woman and she had not returned his key. Police contacted her and she agreed to return the key if the man paid her $60 for walking the dog. He agreed and police facilitated the exchange.

Identity Theft: A Shaw Road man reported that someone opened a credit card account in his name on April 3.

A large tree branch fell on Dickel Road around noon on March 31 and blocked the roadway and damaged a fence.

A large pothole was reported on School Lane on the afternoon of 3-31. Another pot hole, measuring 2 feet long by 1 foot wide was found on Popham Road on 4-6. Police called the highway department to fill it.

Missing Ring: A Crawford Road woman reported that a ring, valued at $46,000 was missing. The ring is a circa 1940's opal, diamond and 18 karat gold ring that was appraised at $46,457. The last time she saw the ring was November, 2013.

Lost: A flute, valued at $200 was reported lost by a Continental Road woman on April 3. The woman's daughter had last seen the flute on March 12, 2014.

Found: A purse was found at the Scarsdale Library on April 3. The library staff was unable to reach the owner and locked the purse in a safe. Police were able to find the owner who retrieved her bag.

Earring: A Scarsdale10583 reader reports that she found an earring in Hartsdale Villageearly last week. If you lost an earring in Hartsdale, send a photo of the mate to [email protected] to claim it.

A brown and white dog was found on Morris Lane on the afternoon of April 6. Police searched the area for the owner but could not find anyone to claim the dog so they sent it to the New Rochelle Humane Society. At 8:30 that night, a Morris Lane man called police regarding the dog. They served him a summons and told him where to find the dog.

Accident: The driver of a dry cleaning delivery truck rear-ended the car of a woman from Cortlandt Manor on the Post Road on the afternoon of April 3. The driver of the dry cleaning truck said she looked down at her delivery log and dropped it while she was driving. She took her eyes off the road and hit the car in front of her.

Suspended Registrations: Christopher Puzio of Shoreham New York was stopped on Weaver Street on the afternoon of April 1 when the police scanner revealed that Puzio was driving a car with a suspended registration due to a lapse in insurance. The plates were removed from the car and it was towed.

Daniel Montoya of New Rochelle was stopped on Weaver Street on the evening of 4/4 when the police scanner revealed he was driving with a suspended registration. The plates were removed from the car and it was towed to the man's home in New Rochelle.

Paul Greenberg of Scarsdale was stopped on Weaver Street on the evening of 4/4 for driving with a suspended registration due to an insurance lapse. The plates were removed from the car and it was towed to his home.

Carlos Alvarez of Norwalk CT was stopped on Weaver Street at 7:25 pm on 4/4 for driving with a suspended registration due to a lapse in insurance. The plates were removed from the car and it was towed to his employer, Olatec Industries in Rye Brook.

Tharin Chadwick of Mt Vernon was stopped for driving an unregistered car on the Post Road on April 5 at 6:30 pm. His plates were removed and his car was towed.

Rapist Arrested: On April 4th Tarem Cannonier (age 24) of 2 Oak St Apt 3H in CannonierGreenburgh was arrested following an investigation that was conducted by the Juvenile Aid Unit of the Greenburgh Police Department Detective Division. Cannonier was arraigned in Greenburgh Town Court on the charges of rape in the second degree and sex abuse in the first degree, both Class D felonies. Cannonier is currently being held at the Westchester County Jail, where his bail set at $150,000.00.
