Stolen car : On April 9, a Murray Hill Road resident reported his 2023 Porsche SUV, valued at $85,000, had been stolen overnight.
Stolen
On April 11, a Chase Road business owner reported a handbag had been stolen from the shop in March. She said she just discovered the theft.
Car break ins
On April 9, a Stratton Road resident reported that someone attempted to break into cars parked in her driveway around 3:40 a.m.
Identity theft and scams
On Aug. 8, a Meadow Road woman reported that someone requested a copy of her license at the DMV and used a fraudulent check to pay for the fraudulent transaction. This caused her license to be suspended.
A Corell Road resident reported her temporary plate was being fraudulently used, and the usage tallied over $4,000 in EZ Pass fines March 9.
On April 10, a Mamaroneck Road woman reported that her husband’s identity had been stolen, and over $1,500 in charges were made using the false identity.
A Clarence Road resident reported her personal information was being used for a rental application in Minnesota April 12. She informed the landlord that the application fraudulent.
A Heathcote Road resident reported that someone had fraudulently gained access to her computer April 14.
Disputes
On April 8, a passenger reported a dispute with an Uber driver at Ogden and Fox Meadow roads.
A scooter driver and a car driver were having a verbal dispute at Fox Meadow and Fenimore
roads April 13. Police mediated the disagreement and advised the parties to not engage in arguments with unknown people due to not knowing how they might react.
Stream
Water was reported to be neon green in a stream on Richbell Road April 9. The water department was notified.
Suspicious
An unattended cooler bag was reported on the train station platform April 10. Metro North police were notified.
On April 10, a man rang a Madison Road homeowner’s doorbell and asked for the homeowner. When the homeowner identified herself, the man left. The homeowner thought the man’s behavior was suspicious.
On April 13, a Brewster Road man reported a noise that sounded like person in his garage. Investigating officers determined it was a raccoon.
A Sheldrake Road resident reported a man, described as Hispanic, walked onto her property and stayed there for awhile with no legitimate reason April 12. Police investigation revealed the man was a contractor who arrived at the wrong address.
Cars and roadways
On April 8, a caller reported that a Village vehicle ripped down a fiber optic cable and allegedly caused damage to a Drake Road roof.
Police advised the highway department of a dangling branch and a raised roadway plate on Palmer Avenue April 11.
On April 12, police notified Con Edison about a fallen wire on Brite Avenue.
The highway department removed a fallen tree limb from Sycamore Road April 12.
On April 12, police notified Verizon about a low-hanging wire over Boulevard and removed branches from Boulevard.
On April 13, a large tree fell onto tennis courts on Wayside Lane. Police notified the highway department for removal.
Police called a tow for a disabled car at Mamaroneck Road and the Hutchinson River Parkway ramps April 14.
On April 14, a Fox Meadow Road resident advised that his neighbor was observed leaving his house even though the neighbor’s license was suspended. Police tried to contact the neighbor over the alleged incident but were unable to reach him.
Four car accidents were reported in the Village this week.
Missing person
White Plains police advised that a missing person’s property had been found in the Village. Police attempted to discover if the missing person was still in the jurisdiction, but no video surveillance had been captured April 8.
Dogs
On April 9, a woman reported that she was out walking on Johnson Road when a large dog approached her child and bit the handle bars of the child’s bike. The child was not injured.
A pedestrian described that a German Shepherd ran out of a Ferncliff Road house as she passed by April 13. The dog owner apologized to police and said the door had accidentally been left ajar,
On April 14, a Leatherstocking Lane resident advised a neighbors dog got onto his property. When police arrived, the dog had returned to its owner’s yard.
Village code
On April 8, illegally posted signs were removed from Ardmore Road. Citations were issued, as appropriate.
On April 10, illegally posted signs were removed from Ogden and Kent roads.
On April 12, illegally posted signs were removed from Post Road and discarded.
After a Tompkins Road neighbor complained of noise April 13, police advised the residents of a nearby house to lower the volume of music.
Lost and found
On April 8, a Lockwood Road man reported that another person’s Rolex watch went missing from his house, allegedly after a his daughter had guests over.
A key fob was found on Mamaroneck Road April 8. Police vouchered it for safekeeping.
Firefighters
On April 9, firefighters advised a Johnson Road resident to not burn lawn debris.

Police Report: Mail and Check Fraud, A Death and A Fraudulent Tax Return Filed

Mail and check fraud: On April 2, a Heathcote Road resident reported placing a check in a blue mailbox located in the Golden Horseshoe Shopping Center in March. He stated that, approximately a week later, he was informed that payment had not yet been received. At that time, he investigated the check and observed the check had been washed. He notified the bank, and the bank required a police report in order to commence its investigation.
On April 4, a caller reported noticing a sticky substance on the mail slot at a mailbox at Brewster Road and Huntington Avenue. Police determined it was residue from a glue trap that criminals use to “fish” mail out of a mailbox. Patrol cleaned a majority of the substance from the mail slot and reported the matter to the US Postal Inspector.
Car break-ins
On April 5, an Old Lyme Road resident reported his 2021 Mercedes-Benz’s car alarm sounded around 4 a.m. At 7 a.m., he realized the car had been entered, and items were tossed from the front consoles. The driver’s side window was found shattered.
Identity theft
On April 1, an Aspen Road woman reported that someone fraudulently opened a Verizon account in her name in October 2023. The account was closed in February 2024, with approximately $1,515 in charges accrued to the account.
On April 5, a Mamaroneck Road woman reported someone used her name and Social Security number to book a residence in Georgia.
A Madison Road woman reported that someone used her daughter’s name and address to obtain a fare on a Metro North train. She discovered it when she received a bill and reported it to police April 6.
On April 7, a Kensington Road resident reported that someone filed a fraudulent tax return in her name.
Suspicious
On April 6, an Old Orchard Lane woman reported that an older man came onto her porch, rang her doorbell, checked her mail, and after approximately a minute and a half left the location without further incident. She advised that nothing was taken from the location, but she felt it was slightly suspicious. Patrol was shown doorbell camera footage of the incident occurring. Observed was a white male, wearing a blue sweatshirt, gray pants and brown shoes.
Death
A caller reported his 88-year-old Circle Road mother had stopped breathing and died at home April 2.
Help
A homeless person was sleeping outside the Scarsdale Public Library near the book drop April 6. Police provided the person with a courtesy ride to a White Plains shelter.
Civil matters
A Harvest Drive resident complained about a neighbor’s tree leaning onto her property, with partial roots exposed, April 4. The neighbor was aware of the condition and had contacted a tree removal company.
On April 5, a Black Birch Lane woman advised that a furniture company made a delivery to her neighbor but placed furniture on her property without her consent. She advised of a verbal dispute with one of the furniture delivery persons. The matter was resolved before police arrived on scene.
Cars and roadways
On April 3, police notified Cablevision about a fallen wire on Weaver Street.
Police notified Con Edison about trees on wires, with some wires sparking, on Catherine Road, Valley Road and Brookline Road April 3.
Police moved fallen branches to the side of Carman Road, Popham and Post roads, Heathcote Road, Crest Lane, Walworth Avenue, Coralyn Road, Bypass and Brewster Road to help traffic flow April 3.
A tree fell on Brown Road, taking down wires, April 3. Police notified Con Edison and advised the highway department to remove the tree.
The highway department was notified about a fallen tree on Wildwood Road April 3.
Police shut a section of Mamaroneck Road after a tree fell on wires and a small flame could be seen, while waiting for Con Edison and the fire department, April 3.
On April 3, a tree fell on Hillview Drive and caused wires to burn. Firefighters stabilized the scene while waiting for Con Edison. Police closed the affected roadway. Another tree fell onto wires on Morris Lane. Police closed the roadway and firefighters stabilized the scene until Con Edison arrived.
Police moved a fallen street sign for Fenimore and Oakstwain roads off the roadway April 3.
On April 3, police removed a fallen cable wire from Palmer Avenue and Mamaroneck Road.

Village code
On April 4, police removed illegally posted signs from the Village right of way on Heathcote Road and also on Post Road.
On April 5, police removed and discarded illegally posted signs from the Village right of way on Birchall Drive, Murray Hill Road, Crane and Post roads, Palmer Avenue, Heathcote Road and Morris Lane.
Youths were fishing in the pond located at Brewster and Olmsted roads April 6. Police advised them that it was against Village code to fish in the pond.
Neighbors complained about intermittent barking from a dog on Coralyn Road April 7. Police advised the dog’s owner of both the complaints and Village code.
Lost and found
On April 1, a Village resident reported losing her wallet, which contained her driver’s license, Social Security cards, credit cards, debit cards and house keys. Police advised her to cancel all of her credit cards and change her locks.
On April 5, a driver reported his handicap sign was missing from his car.
A pedestrian found a wallet on Freightway Road and gave it to police April 5. Police vouchered it for safekeeping.
A resident found a blue iPhone on a rock wall on her property and brought it to police headquarters April 7. Police contacted a family member of the iPhone’s owner who correctly identified the phone, know the correct passcode and came to headquarters to pick up the phone.
Firefighters
Firefighters extinguished a car on fire on the Hutchinson River Parkway April 1. Police assisted with traffic control. On scene, firefighters determined the fire was burning in the engine and passenger compartments. Firefighters used a hose to attack the fire with about 450 gallons of water from a booster tank. The fire was extinguished, and the vehicle was overhauled. Firefighters stood by until a tow removed the vehicle. The vehicle was reported to have had trouble starting earlier in the day, and AAA had assisted with starting the vehicle. The driver said he had been driving the vehicle for about 15 minutes prior to the fire.
On April 3, firefighters responded to numerous calls for downed and arcing power
lines in the Village, as well as for flooded roadways and basements.
On April 3, firefighters responded to Seneca Road for a reported inside odor of burning. Firefighters found overheated electrical components related to recessed lighting on the second floor. Firefighters removed plywood to access the lighting components in the unfinished attic space. Electrical power was isolated at the main panel to that lighting circuit. Firefighters advised the resident to call an electrician to assess the wiring and the lighting fixtures.
On April 3, firefighters twice re-secured a loose tarp to a Palmer Avenue roof.
On April 4, a Hillview Drive generator was expelling exhaust into its house, causing elevated levels of carbon monoxide. Firefighters shut power to the generator and ventilated the house.
Firefighters helped Scarsdale Volunteer Ambulance Corps paramedics carry a patient from the second floor of a house to outside April 4.
On April 4, firefighters helped a Cooper Road resident clear a backed up drain in a basement sink to help drain water that was backing up.
Firefighters conducted building assessments of Village schools following the earthquake on April 5.
Firefighters stood by for Con Edison at the sites of outdoor gas odors on Rock Creek Lane and Greenacres Avenue April 5.
Butler Road residents lit a gas fireplace fire and forgot to open the flue, causing elevated levels of carbon monoxide April 5. Firefighters shut down the fireplace, opened the flue and ventilated the space.

Police Report: Crime: Boulevard BMW Stolen and Birchall Drive House Burglarized

Stolen car: 0n the morning of March 25, a Boulevard man reported his $40,000 2020 BMW had been stolen overnight. It had been parked on the street in front of his house.
Burglary
A Birchall Drive house was burglarized March 19. Two exterior doors and one interior door were damaged in the process.
Scams and fraud
On March 18, a Barry Road resident informed police he had been scammed and had delivered money to a location in New Jersey. The resident asked police to inform New Jersey police for follow-up.
On March 21, a Mamaroneck Road resident reported someone cashed a fraudulent check for $250 against her account. She reported it to the bank, and the missing funds were restored.
Hacked
A Popham Road woman reported her computer had been “hacked” March 20. She reported that an unknown person logged into her Google Drive account using her credentials on February 29. She stated that the log in occurred in the confines of White Plains, NY, as stated by Google. She stated that on or about that same time frame, some of her personal files were deleted. The party stated that she did not suffer any financial loss due to the incident but would like it documented. Patrol advised the party to change all of her usernames and passwords to prevent and further incidents. The woman stated she was working with Google to recover the files.
Order of protection
On March 20, police an individual for violating an order of protection.
Domestic matter
On March 19, a Heathcote parent called police to report her child was not behaving. Patrol spoke with the child who claimed to be having a bad day and promised to behave better in the future.
An ex-husband came into town and wanted visitation with his son March 22. His ex-wife would not allow it. There was no court order requiring or outlining visitation rights. Police advised the ex-couple to work out the matter through family court.
Knife
A knife was found stuck in someone’s lawn at Crest Lane and Westview Lane March 18. The homeowner removed it and informed police it appeared to be garbage. The knife was properly disposed of.
Mail
A Rock Creek Lane resident reported receiving multiple credit card solicitations at his address, addressed to an unknown person March 22. Police advised him to report the matter to the post office.
Help
A three-year-old Murray Hill Road girl accidentally locked herself inside a bathroom in her house March 23. She was crying. With parents’ permission, police forced open the door to reunite the girl with her parents.
Cars and roadways
On March 20, police conducted traffic control around a car with a flat tire on Post Road until the tire could be changed.
Police informed a cable provider about a low hanging wire on Sage Terrace March 21.
On March 21, a woman advised that someone damaged her vehicle while she was away. She said she left her vehicle parked on Clarence Road from March 2-9. During that time, she alleged that an unknown party broke the windshield and damaged the sides of the vehicle. She advised that she only wanted to document this incident and not open an investigation.
On March 21, police conducted a traffic stop pm Boulevard and Johnson Road when a car failed to stop at a stop sign. Police issued summonsed, including two summonses for unlicensed driving, to the car’s Yonkers driver.
Sanitation workers were advised to pick up a dead animal from Sycamore Road after a resident complained March 22
Four car accidents were officially reported in the Village this week. One involved a police car on Post Road March 19. Another accident involved a car backing into a Garth Road light pole March 21.
Village code
A caller reported that someone dumped a garbage bag near trashcans at Hyatt Field March 18. Police asked sanitation workers to pick it up for disposal.
Police checked and verified that a Clarence Road business owner had a permit to remove a tree on his property March 19 after a neighbor complained.
A neighbor complained about generator noise on Tyler Road March 19. Intermittent noise was detectable, as per police, but it was being emitted from a water pump – not a generator.
On March 22, police removed illegally posted signs from Mamaroneck Road and Griffen Avenue and issued summonses to the business owner who had posted the signs.
Lost and found
A man reported losing his wallet and Mexican ID in the area of East Parkway and Spencer Place March 23.
People were playing soccer on a closed Huntington Avenue field March 24. Police dispersed them.
People were playing softball on a closed Crossway field March 24. Police dispersed them.
Firefighters
Firefighters assisted Fairview firefighters with a shed on fire March 18.
Firefighters assisted with a car accident on the Hutchinson River Parkway March 19.
Firefighters assisted Hartsdale firefighters with a structure fire March 19.
Firefighters removed a fallen cable wire from Brite Avenue March 20.
On March 20, firefighters stood by for Con Edison at the site of a gas leak on Berkeley Road.
A driver with neck pain pulled into a Mamaroneck Road parking lot March 20.
Firefighters stood by until Scarsdale Volunteer Ambulance Corps arrived on scene to transport the driver to the hospital March 20.
Firefighters assisted Fairview firefighters with a structure fire March 20.
On March 23, Heathcote Road power lines were arcing and burning against a tree with slag dropping down to the ground below. Con Edison was notified. Firefighters established a safe area and monitored conditions while waiting for Con Edison’s arrival. Upon arrival, a Con Ed technician extinguished the burning wire and sleeved the exposed primary conductor, shielding it from adjacent trees.
On March 23, firefighters responded to a report of wires arching next to a structure on Paddington Road. Upon arrival, units found a large single-family residence under construction. The arching wires were temporary power lines that ran from the temporary outdoor meter pan and breaker panel into the structure. The wires were isolated at the breaker panel, and an electrician was dispatched.
On March 23, firefighters isolated and shut power to a light fixture that was collecting water from a roof leak on Chesterfield Road. They advised the resident to contact a roofer.
On March 23, firefighters responded to a gas odor in a Garth Road building. Upon arrival, units observed Con Edison personnel in a storefront directly next door. Con Edison advised that the building had lost power and there was possibly an electrical fire underground creating carbon monoxide. Firefighters assisted in metering the basements of nearby storefronts. Readings upwards of 35 PPM were detected in the basement. Firefighters began ventilating and assisted Con Edison Gas in entry and air monitoring while Con Edison Electric removed the burning electrical service from the electrical vault in the street. Once the burning electrical service line was removed, carbon monoxide readings began to fall.
On March 23, firefighters responded to a Montrose Road house for a reported “Soda Stream” malfunction. Upon arrival, the resident advised that the “Soda Stream” exploded while trying to make seltzer. The resident showed firefighters the broken soda stream. No other hazards were detected at the location.
Firefighters assisted a Bradford Road woman with a burned-out electrical heater, reported to be smoking, inside her house March 24.
On March 24, firefighters assisted at a car accident on Post Road.

Man Asleep at the Wheel, a Wild Turkey and a Fire on the BRP Trail

Arrested: On March 30, around 2:15 a.m., police responded to a report of a car parked in the middle of the roadway at Popham and Post Roads. Investigation determined that the driver – Gregorio Daniel Garcia Gonzalez, 33, of Pelham – was asleep at the wheel. After police woke up the driver and spoke with him, it was determined that the driver was intoxicated. He was arrested on charges of a stopping/standing violation on a highway, refusal to take a breath test and having an open container of alcohol in a vehicle. He was released on his own recognizance and ordered to appear in court at a later date.
On March 27, police arrested Emanuel A. Smith, 29, of Mount Vernon, on charges of aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, speeding in a school zone, operation of a motor vehicle by an unlicensed driver, and failure to exhibit a valid driver’s license following a traffic stop on Mamaroneck Road.
Theft
On March 25, a Popham Road business owner reported an employee had been stealing from the business by using a credit card to make an unauthorized personal purchase of $416.16.
A Murray Hill Road resident reported a package had been stolen from outside his house March 25. He said the package had been delivered by FedEx. Shortly thereafter, a person wearing an Amazon vest removed the package and left a box of garbage there in its place.
Scam
On March 27, a Post Road woman reported she attempted to purchase concert tickets via a Facebook post and then realized the seller was operating a scam. No money was lost.
Suspicious
At 5:30 a.m., police received a report of a man checking car door handles on Drake Road. He was seen getting into a sedan and leaving the scene, as per a witness. Police canvassed the area but did not find the man.
A teen with a clipboard was reportedly going door to door in Edgewood asking for money to attend plumbing school March 30.
Death
A Massachusetts caller requested a welfare check of a 72-year-old White Road family member after the caller lost contact with her March 27. Police checked on the 71-year-old woman and discovered she had died.
Knife
On March 29, a caller reported a large kitchen knife on Popham Road. Patrol arrived on scene and collected the knife. Police examined to see if the knife was possibly used in the commission of a crime. Based off patrol's observations and the condition of the knife, it was determined that the knife had been put out for garbage but had fallen into the roadway when being collected. The knife was brought to headquarters, packaged up and properly disposed off.
Help
Police helped a homeless man on East Parkway find a shelter in White Plains and assisted him in boarding a train to get there March 25.
Civil matter
On March 30, a Brewster Road resident reported her neighbor keeps driving his car on her side of their shared driveway, going onto her property. Police advised her it was a civil matter.
Cars and roadways
On March 25, police issued a New Rochelle driver summonses for insurance, registration and licensing violations following a traffic stop on Weaver Street. The car’s license plate was removed as well.
On March 26, police notified Verizon about fallen wires on Wayside Lane.
On March 26, a driver pulled into the parking lot of police headquarters to report a road rage incident. The driver stated he was traveling south on Post Road when a driver of a Honda SUV got too close to his car and attempted to pass him. The driver was unable to pass him, however, and began to tailgate him while flashing high beams. When the driver who reported the incident turned into police headquarters, the SUV continued west on Fenimore at a high rate of speed toward the Bronx River Parkway. The SUV was described as a newer model white Honda Pilot with blue fog lights, blue under-glow lights, blue daytime running lights and dark tints.
A rock wall on Post Road collapsed and was partially blocking the roadway March 28. The highway department cleared debris from the roadway and put up temporary supports to keep the wall from further eroding.
A vehicle with 14 outstanding parking tickets, totaling $425, was parked on East Parkway March 28. As per the court, the car’s owner already made arrangements to pay off the tickets; so police took no further actions.
On March 28 and 29, police notified Verizon about fallen wires on Griffen Avenue.
On March 28, a caller said he wanted to advise of a vehicle that failed to stop at a stop sign at Brewster and Kingston roads, almost causing a collision.
On March 28, an accident involving a 17-year-old pedestrian and a 52-year-old driver on Brite Avenue was reported. The pedestrian alleged the driver’s car struck him in the abdomen. He said he was not injured, and he refused medical attention. The driver said he stopped in front of a Brite Avenue house and then continued along Brite Avenue. He said he was unaware that he had struck a pedestrian.
A recently paved portion of Kingston and Montrose roads was uneven and thus causing a tripping hazard March 29. Police informed the highway department for follow-up.
Flexible construction fencing blew into roadway on Crossway March 29. Police removed it from the roadway.
On March 29, police advised Verizon about an open door on an electrical panel at Mamaroneck and Post roads.
Construction barricades were blocking Fox Meadow Road for no reason March 29. Police relocated them to a better position.
Police notified the water department of a water main break on Secor Road March 30.
Police provided traffic control around a disabled car on Post Road while the driver waited for roadside assistance March 30.
An elderly Boulevard resident’s car’s trunk was open, and the car was running March 30. Police closed the trunk and turned off the car.

A wild turkey was reported on Fox Meadow Road March 27.
A wild turkey was reported on Post Road March 31. Police gave it a courtesy transport to a more wooded area, away from traffic.

Police removed and discarded illegally posted signs from Popham Road March 28.
Neighbors complained of a loud party on Morris Lane March 29. Police informed the host of the complaint. The host said he would end the party and send guests home.
Lost and found
An Oak Way woman reported losing her license and wallet March 26.
Firefighters
On March 25, firefighters assisted at a car accident on the Hutchinson River Parkway.
Firefighters and police responded to the Bronx River Parkway trail for a reported brush fire started by youths March 26. Upon arrival, crews received an updated location on the walking trail north of Popham Road. Police indicated that there was a small smoldering fire located on the bank of the Bronx River that was previously attended by two youths. The youths dispersed upon police arrival. The smoldering fire area consisted of a 1 foot by 1 foot round makeshift pit containing a fuel package of assorted twigs surrounded by rocks. Firefighters doused the smoldering debris with a water can to ensure complete extinguishment.
Firefighters stood by for Con Edison at the site of a malfunctioning stove in a Mamaroneck Road building March 28.
On March 30, firefighters were dispatched to a Lawrence Road house for an outside smoke investigation. Upon arrival, crews encountered an unauthorized burn. Specifically, brush and yard debris were burning and overflowing from a fire pit approximately five feet from a wooden deck with an inadequate water supply to extinguish the open burn. Firefighters instructed the resident to extinguish the fire and educated the resident on requirements for a controlled burn.
A Brookby Road resident accidentally got locked out if his house March 31. Firefighters checked the resident’s ID and made access into the house through an unlocked window.

Police: Barry Road Man Loses $30K in Financial Scam, Dog Hit and Homeless Man Causes Lockdown At Nursery School

Arrested: On March 15, Dashane A. Smith, 23 of the Bronx, was arrested on March 15 on charges of a suspended registration, aggravated unlicensed driving, driving without insurance, unlicensed driving, an uninspected motor vehicle and an equipment violation. The arrest followed a traffic stop due to police seeing Smith driving on Richbell Road with an outdated inspection sticker and a non-transparent front windshield. Smith was released on his own recognizance with an appearance ticket. The car’s license plates were seized, and the car was impounded.
Scam
On March 15, a Barry Road caller reported being the victim of a scam. The caller indicated that over the course of two days, he was scammed into retrieving over $30,000 from his bank account to put into a Bitcoin machine in New Jersey. He stated that he was contacted by what was thought to be Microsoft and Chase, respectively, in regards to fraudulent activity being reported. Both “agencies” advised the man that they needed the money to be able to rectify the situation. The man withdrew the money from his local Chase branch and drove to a gas station Bitcoin machine located in Northvale, NJ, to deposit the money. The man became suspicious and decided to report this incident to police. SPD.
Alcohol sale
On March 12, a caller reported he was upset about a denied alcohol sale at a Scarsdale Avenues business. He said that an individual in front of him who was clearly over age was not asked to show ID, and he was then refused sale of alcohol because he was not in possession of ID. The caller did not provide his age. A cashier confirmed this story and stated the caller appeared to be under age, which is why ID was requested.
Concerns
A Cornell Street resident reported she saw, via a doorbell camera, someone attempting to break into her back door March 14. After patrol reviewed the video footage, it was determined that the resident saw a spider crawling over the lens – not an attempted intruder.
A man walking his dog on Post Road noticed a resident’s door was open March 14. Police checked the house and closed the door.
Prank
Teens rang a Dolma Road doorbell and ran away laughing March 15. The prank was recorded on video.
Homeless
Police contacted a White Plains shelter for a homeless person who was allegedly “having a hard time standing up” on East Parkway March 14. Police provided a courtesy transportation ride.
On March 15, preschool school staff on Greenacres Avenue called police to report a man on the school/church property. The man had already made contact with staff asking for shelter information. The man was allegedly polite but was not granted access to the building, due to it also being a school. Staff said it appeared that the man left the premises, but later they discovered he was still on the property. The preschool was placed on lockdown as a precaution. Patrol arrived on scene and spoke to man who said he was homeless and was taking a break at the location from riding his bicycle. The man was provided with shelter information but advised that he did not want to go to a shelter at this time. The man left the location without incident. Patrol conducted a walk through at the school and spoke with administration about the incident. Patrol stayed in the area during dismissal.
Police spoke with a homeless person near Mamaroneck Road tennis courts March 16. He declined offers of assistance from police.
Bicyclist struck
A bicyclist made a turn without signaling and struck the side of a car at Popham Road and Church Lane March 12. The 16-year-old bicyclist was treated by paramedics on site and refused further medical attention.
Civil matter
On March 12, patrol responded to Herkimer and Meadow roads and was met by an Uber driver who stated he terminated his passenger’s ride due to littering out of the window. He also alleged that the passenger became verbally hostile. The passenger confirmed that he littered and that the driver then terminated the ride. A second Uber picked up the passenger prior to patrol’s departure.
Road rage
Two drivers got out of their cars and argued over a traffic matter near a crosswalk at East Parkway and Spencer Place March 15. One of the drivers called police to de-escalate the situation. The other driver then drove off and went to headquarters. Police managed to calm down both drivers and wrote up a report of the incident.
Cars and roadways
Dispatch notified highway maintenance about a dead goose on Tompkins Road March 11.
Police twice asked the driver of a concrete truck to move to a new location on Carstensen Road for safe traffic flow March 11.
A split tree was in danger of falling into a power line on Drake Road March 11. Police notified the homeowner it was a private tree and informed Con Edison. The homeowner called a tree removal company to address it.
Police notified Verizon about low-hanging wires on Brookby Road March 11.
A Village employee took a photo of a license plate of a car allegedly involved in a hit and run accident at Carthage Road and Crossway March 12. Police are following up.
A resident complained about an idling school bus on Bell Road around 6 a.m. March 13. The driver said he had arrived in advance to take school students on a field trip. Police advised him to park the bus and not allow the engine to idle.
Police issued a parking citation to a driver who illegally parked in a handicap-designated spot in a Post Road parking lot March 13.
On March 13, a 31-year-old White Plains driver was issued summonses for unlicensed driving and equipment violations after a traffic stop on Post Road March 13.
Police called a tow for a disabled car on East Parkway March 13.
A parked car rolled into another parked car on East Parkway March 13. Police helped the owners exchange information.
Police provided traffic assistance on Heathcote Road March 15.
Police issued a summons to the owner of a car parked on grass on Rodney Road March 16.
On March 16, police pushed a branch, off the roadway at Griffin Avenue and Broadmoor Road.
Police placed traffic cones in a pothole on Walworth Avenue to alert drivers March 17.
Five car accidents were officially reported in the Village this week.
Animals
A loose dog was found on Murray Hill Road and reunited with its owner March 12. Police issued the owner a summons.
A resident reported deer were running into yards on Old Lyme Road and Normandy Lane and was concerned “children might run into the deer, “on March 13. Police canvassed the area for the deer but did not see any loose animals.
A dog ran into the Crane Road near Carstensen Road March 15. A driver said she attempted to stop but was unable to do so and struck the dog, causing it to fatally succumb to injuries sustained in the accident. The dog’s owner said the dog escaped from her house while her kids were leaving for school. The dog’s vet picked up the deceased animal.
Village code
Police issued landscapers on Johnson Road and Palmer Avenue summonsed for violating the gas-blower ban, as per Village code, March 13.
Police removed an illegally posted sign from Heathcote Road as well as Fenimore Road March 16.
On March 17, police asked a Hampton Road resident to lower the volume of music after neighbors complained.
Lost and found
On March 13, a Hampton Road resident reported losing two license plates in the Village.
Firefighters
Firefighters assisted a car accident at Hamilton and Drake roads March 12.
Firefighters removed a padlock that had been placed on two bicycles, securing them together, on Lincoln Road, March 12.
Firefighters stood by for Con Edison at the site of a gas leak from a gas fireplace on Sheldrake Road March 13. Con Edison shut down the appliance.
Firefighters notified dispatch about a fallen communications wire on Post Road March 14.
On March 15, stood by for Con Edison at the site of a gas odor on Claremont Road.
On March 16, a driver who suddenly started to feel ill stopped at fire department headquarters on Tomkins Road for assistance. Firefighters provided immediate assistance and called Scarsdale Volunteer Ambulance Corps. SVAC transported the man to White Plains Hospital Center.
On March 17, firefighters checked a Stratton Road house for possible carbon monoxide accumulation after a car was accidentally left running inside the garage. Air levels quality was determined to be safe.
